DIGITAL SOUND DECODER (DSD) + State of the art DCC Technology

The Tsunami sound system is SoundTraxx’s new high-performance, onboard locomotive sound system. Like the DSD-150 it replaces, Tsunami integrates a full-featured sound system, four Hyperlight lighting effects, a motor controller and a DCC decoder into a single, integrated package and is compatible with the NMRA DCC standards and Recommended Practices. Unlike the DSD-150, the Tsunami sound system can also be used on ‘Analog’ layouts and controlled with a conventional power pack, though it really shines on DCC controlled layouts.

The TSU-1000 (in the purple shrink wrap) is 30% shorter and 50% thinner than its predecessor, the DSD-150.

The Digital Sound Decoder (DSD) is a state-of-the-art module providing the benefits of today’s DCC technology with the addition of high quality, digital onboard sound. Each DSD installs inside your locomotive and integrates a full featured digital sound system, sophisticated lighting effects and a DCC decoder into a single, miniature electronic module. SoundTraxx Digital Sound Decoders are available in both Steam and Diesel versions, each featuring a full spectrum of sound effects for each prototype. The superb sound quality will bring your models to life with such realism as you have never dreamed!

STEAM DECODER

The steam exhaust can be synchronized to the engine speed by either a cam sensor or to the throttle setting via the Auto-Exhaust (tm). The Auto-Exhaust rate may be programmed to accommodate different drive wheel sizes. For example, you can select the proper cadence to correspond to a shay, 2 cylinder or articulated engine. Each steam DCC also produces sound effects for the bell, whistle, blower, dynamo, air pump and a few other surprises. We’ve even added our unique “Fireman Fred” - he’ll keep your engine ready to go and you’ll hear him opening and closing the firebox doors, shoveling coal and keeping the valve gear greased. As he shovels the coal, the firebox burns brighter, becoming dim when the doors are once again closed!

The SoundTraxx Digital Sound Decoders for Steam Engines are state-of-the-art modules providing the benefits of today’s DCC technology with the addition of high quality, digital onboard sound. Each DSD installs inside your locomotive and integrates a full featured digital sound system, sophisticated

lighting effects and a DCC decoder into a single, miniature electronic module. Each Digital Sound Decoder is specific to a prototype and comes with the sounds appropriate to that locomotive.
